Assistant Manager (AM)

Job Summary
The Assistant Manager provides all Bowl Reps with the guidance and information to perform their jobs to the highest standard in the absence of the Store/Lead/District Manager. They are responsible for maintaining store operations; and communicating issues and needs to upper level Management when needed while also supporting consistent customer needs through cashiering and answering questions. 

Essential duties and responsibilities
Supervise team members in the absence of upper-level Management, including answering questions and coaching. 

  • Follow established outline regarding opening the store as well as closing at the end of each day when assigned an opening or closing shift. 

  • Work with team members to verify they have the necessary training to be successful in their roles and serve customers within company standards.  Support upper-level Management by offering written documentation of any situations which should be documented. 

  • Maintain trackers, logs, documents, worksheets and spreadsheets related to the assigned shifts. 

  • Work directly with the Store/Lead Manager to understand food & labor cost control measures and verify compliance on your assigned shifts. 

  • Work positively with vendors when needed and communicate inventory needs as applicable. 

  • Place orders as directed by the Store/Lead Manager and accept deliveries on behalf of the organization when they arrive. Follow protocol to, handle any discrepancies.

  • Maintain a clean and properly functioning store and its equipment to include prep coolers, kegerator, freezers, fridge, blenders and any other equipment in the store. Communicate with Store/Lead Manager regarding any items not working properly.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all team members of the organization. 

  • Use the cash register to accurately charge and serve customers in the store. 

  • Communicate tip pool amounts at the end of the shift in the absence of the Store/Lead Manager.

  • Offer recommendations for manager manual updates. Plan and execute monthly deep clean

  • Support the Store/Lead Manager with maintenance of event equipment & supplies as directed.

  • Complete event guides before and after events. Meet all assigned monthly deadlines. 

  • Maintain a manager level ServSafe certification. 

  • Attend all assigned meetings and offer feedback as appropriate. 

  • Attend company sponsored events as directed. 

  • Responsible for ensuring manager shifts are filled, covering whenever necessary Backup Manger and Bowl Rep team members missed shifts as needed to support the store.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
In the absence of the Store/Lead Manager, carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Tasks may include; training employees, planning, directing work, evaluating performance against established norms, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret written documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and submit information for procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret mathematical data.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization typically exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills
Proficiency with Apple products, specifically MacBook and iPad, with experience using Numbers, Pages and other Apple based software.

  • Extended periods of standing are required for this role.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme cold and heat (both weather and non-weather). While performing this job the employee must be able to safely move between areas of different flooring levels and safely work on different surfaces.
