Store Manager (SM)

Reports To: District Manager & Ownership
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Job Summary
The Store Manager provides team members with the guidance and information to perform their jobs to the highest standard. They are responsible for maintaining store operations; and communicating issues and needs to District Manager (DM) & ownership when needed while also supporting consistent customer service and monitoring the financial performance of the store. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees hiring and training of new team members and assists the assistant manager (AM) with team selection and training as needed.

  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and performance of assigned store, providing coaching when necessary.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

  • Embraces a culture of coaching towards success, with the intention on following through with discipline to include separation, as needed when coaching is unsuccessful. 

  • Work with DM & HR Support Team to determine best path for employee issues as they arise. Gain ownership approval prior to action. 

  • Covers shifts as needed to support leadership presence in all locations.

  • Work with DM to verify scheduling supports cost containment measures. 

  • Designs and implements training, strategies, policies, goals, and other resources to maximize productivity and morale while protecting the culture and core values.

Strategic Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to the assigned store location, overseeing store activities.

  • Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and to identify potential new markets.

  • Develops sales goals for assigned location, monitors progress toward those goals, and develops strategies to attract and retain customers.

  • Develops marketing programs and promotions to increase sales and/or introduce new products and services. Identify community events matching marketing plan and company design for name awareness and future growth. 

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and works directly with DM to strategize the plan and confirm execution. 

  • Schedules and directs regular team meetings and events to share information and adjust goals as needed based on market trends. Provide outline and meeting notes to DM & ownership upon completion.

  • Collaborates with DM & ownership regarding growth plans and company-wide objectives.

  • Identify store operation improvements needed to meet goal and expectations. Execute appropriately with AM. 

  • Offer recommendations for manager manual updates. 

  • Plan and execute monthly deep clean.

  • Verify assigned store is running within budget, monitors and approves expenses. 

  • Maintains knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies.

Functional Duties / Responsibilities

  • Oversee team members to ensure they are following the established outline regarding opening the store as well as closing at the end of each day.

  • Maintain trackers, logs, documents, worksheets, and spreadsheets related to the assigned shifts.

  • Execute food & labor cost control measures and verify compliance. 

  • Work positively with vendors when needed and communicate inventory needs as applicable. 

  • Direct the AM on placing orders and accepting deliveries on behalf of the organization when they arrive. Follow protocol to handle any discrepancies.

  • Maintain a clean and properly functioning store and its equipment to include prep coolers, kegerator, freezers, fridge, blenders and any other equipment in the store. Communicate with ownership regarding any items not working properly.

  • Ensure management presence on weekends at store location.

  • Responsible for ensuring manager shifts are filled, and covering team members missed shifts whenever necessary and as needed to support the store.

  • Model adherence to all company policies and procedures.

  • Complete event guides before and after events. Meet all assigned monthly deadlines. 

  • Maintain a manager level ServSafe certification. 

  • Attend all assigned meetings and offer feedback when appropriate.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, or related field; OR

  • Minimum three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at all times.

  • Must be able to regularly travel throughout region.

Communication Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret written documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and submit information for procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret mathematical data.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization typically exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills
Proficiency with Apple products, specifically MacBook and iPad, with experience using Numbers, Pages and other Apple based software.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme cold and heat (both weather and non-weather). While performing this job the employee must be able to safely move between areas of different flooring levels and safely work on different surfaces.
